Oven Fried Mozzarella Sticks


6 part skim mozzarella string cheese sticks

2 tbsp all purpose flour

1 large egg, beaten

1/3 cup panko bread crumbs

1/4 cup dry bread crumbs

2 tbsp. parmesan

1 tsp dried parsley

1/2 tsp garlic salt

1/4 tsp dried oregano

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°. Line a baking sheet with foil, and spray lightly with cooking spray. Cut the mozzarella sticks in half crosswise (you will have 16 short sticks)

  2. Place the flour in a small bowl. Place the beaten egg in another small bowl. Combine remaining ingredients (panko through oregano) in a medium shallow bowl, and toss to combine.

  3. Roll the mozzarella sticks in the flour, and then in the egg. let excess drip off and drop the sticks in the crumb mixture. With clean hands sprinkle the crumbs evenly over the sticks. Transfer to prepared baking sheet, and repeat with remaining sticks.

  4. Lightly spray mozzarella sticks with cooking spray and bake 7 to 8 minutes, or until lightly browned and edge or two shows sign of melted cheese.

Serving 2 sticks: 80 calories, 3g carbs, 0g sugar, 4.5g total fat, 2.5g sat. fat, 8g protein, 0g fiber, 35mg cholesterol, 220mg sodium
